Sheldon Mendonca
I build systems that stay fast
as products, teams and codebases grow.
Experience
Teams, products, and experiences that shaped how I think and work.
- Delivered the JusRecruit MVP in 3 months - ATS, phone-screening and a marketing site that onboarded the first customers.
- Shipped 10+ large production features including white-labeling and real-time streaming.
- 35% fewer support tickets. 99% uptime. 60% faster deploys. Owned the full front-end AWS stack with Sentry.
- Delivered 5+ structural engineering projects for aerospace clients under strict deadline and quality constraints.
- Mentored engineers and led cross-functional collaboration across clients and technical teams.
- Contributed to internal automation tooling improvements - a hands-on encounter that set the direction toward software engineering.
What I'm building
1 in progress · 2 deployedProduction-grade distributed payment system focused on reliability, idempotency, and fault tolerance. Built to learn and demonstrate real-world backend and distributed systems engineering.
FlowTrade is intended to model a TDD-first production-grade distributed trading platform. The system capabilities such as order management, matching, portfolio management and risk evaluation.
Redesigned my portfolio using the latest front-end technologies. Kept the bundle size low with aim to reach perfect lighthouse metrics.
Building a computer system from NAND gate to operating system. Written in C++.
Engineering Beliefs
How I think about the craft.
Engineering Notes
Short observations from the work.
Writing
Thoughts on engineering, frontend architecture, performance, systems design, and building products.
Always interested in well-engineered systems.
If you're building something interesting, I'd like to hear about it.
